UPDATE: April 2008 - I have decided to take Tia off my sales list for now. I have a new male coming - a maroon full Bolivian grandson of Alpacas of America's famous Black Vigor, and want to put him over both of my suri girls. I will wait to see what they produce, then decide if I want to place Tia back on my sales list.
UPDATE: June 2007 - I hand sheared my suri's this year. There is quite a bit of prejudice in the alpaca community against suris with huacaya in the background. Many of the big named suris in the US are sired by males who have thrown huacayas. Which means, of course, that those animals have a huacaya in their background. But the proof is in the fiber. I sheared Cabellero first - a "pure" suri - no documented huacaya in his background. His fiber was cool, slick, really amazing coming off. Then I hand sheared Tia. I couldn't tell the difference - it was the same cool, slick feeling of a "pure" suri. Chessie, who is the original crossbred, was not as cool or slick, but still had that feeling to her fiber. The difference between Chessie and Tia was amazing.
Tia is the daughter of StudMaster male, Tiago, and my cross bred suri, Chessie. She is friendly and curious. |
